Occasionally people will ask if we use metal clips during the operation and if it will affect their ability to get an MRI? We use very small titanium surgical clips during the operation, to control blood vessels. This is standard procedure for most operations performed for the past 30 years and they are used everywhere in the world for every type of operation.
Occasionally we have operations where no clips are necessary, but usually a few clips are necessary, like when we clip the blood vessels that are feeding the parathyroid tumor. These clips are perfectly safe, and will not activate a metal detector. They are safe for MRI scanning. Don’t worry about this at all. YES! You can have a MRI of your brain or anything else you want nice pictures of.
